Three-time Tony Award nominee Danny Burstein and Sarah Paulson are set to lead a new off-Broadway production of Lanford Wilson’s Talley’s Folly. The Roundabout Theatre production will begin its run at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre on February 8, 2013. Opening night is set for March 5, and the limited engagement is scheduled to run through April 28.
Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play follows a Jewish immigrant named Matt Friedman (Burstein) who returns to his hometown after World War II in the hopes of rekindling his romance with nurse Sally Talley (Paulson).
Michael Wilson will direct the production, which will feature sets by Jeff Cowie, costumes by David Woolard and lighting by Rui Rita.
Burstein was nominated for three Tony Awards for his performances in The Drowsy Chaperone, South Pacific and Follies. His additional Broadway credits include the upcoming revival of Golden Boy, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, A Class Act, Titanic, Company and The Flowering Peach.
Paulson has appeared on Broadway in Collected Stories and The Glass Menagerie. Her TV credits include American Horror Story, Cupid, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Deadwood and Jack & Jill. Paulson’s film resume includes New Year’s Eve, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Mud, The Spirit, The Time Being and the upcoming Twelve Years a Slave.
Talley’s Folly premiered off-Broadway in 1979 and transferred to Broadway in 1980, when it was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play.
